Sylvia Chin-Caplan, R.N, J.D. is perhaps the Vaccine Program’s most seasoned trial attorney. She was the lead attorney for petitioners during the hepatitis B vaccine/rheumatoid arthritis Omnibus Proceeding and the hepatitis B/demyelinating disorders Omnibus Proceeding. More recently, she was the lead attorney for petitioners in the Vaccine Program’s Omnibus Autism Proceeding. She was also lead trial attorney in “test cases” involving vaccines and diabetes, vaccines and autoimmune hepatitis, and vaccines and childhood deaths. Prior to joining the firm, Sylvia had extensive experience in civil litigation. She is also a former Assistant General Counsel for Children’s Hospital, a major teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School. Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Sylvia is a 1984 graduate of Boston College Law School and has an undergraduate degree from Northeastern University’s College of Nursing in Boston. Sylvia is admitted to the Supreme Judicial Court for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
